Whether you work in construction or agriculture, chances are that you keep a closer eye on the weather than many people.

So far the UK as a whole hasn’t experienced much freezing weather yet this winter, but that could all be set to change in the coming weeks. The Express recently shared predictions from Netweather, which is forecasting that the UK, and particularly Scotland, is in for some snowfall as we move into December.

In fact, the newspaper revealed that the weather forecasters believe there is a 100 per cent chance of snow in western Scotland on 3 December, while the snowfall is expected to move further south during the day, reaching as far as the north-west and north-east of England, as well as North Wales.

As that first week of December progresses, and England gradually emerges from its lockdown, the risk of snow is expected to push further south still.

Meanwhile, the Sun reported that several bookies have slashed their odds of a white Christmas in 2020 in recent days.

Leon Brown, head of meteorological operations at the Weather Company, told the newspaper that “a colder-than-average December is favoured, with Arctic influxes from the north-west due to the jet stream’s position”.

That means anyone who spends much of their working day outdoors, like farmers or those working on construction sites or in engineering roles, may want to prepare for the temperatures to drop.

Make sure you’ve got a good supply of thermal work socks, as well as sturdy wellington boots and other waterproof footwear to see you through the winter.
